For Chinese women, festive seasons often mean the busiest time of the year, with Lunar New Year earning the nickname “Women’s Labor Week.” Traditionally, roles such as “mother,” “daughter,” and “daughter-in-law” come with added responsibilities—cleaning the house, preparing New Year’s feasts, assisting with ancestral rituals, and more. But what’s the true meaning behind these customs that keep women bustling during the holidays? Representing two different life stages, Ah Jeng and Sister Bing visit ten families to uncover the unique and often humorous stories behind women’s Lunar New Year “labor”. To shed light on these traditions, Professor Siu and a team of young male hosts form an “Explainer Squad” to debunk myths surrounding New Year customs.

Each episode also features renowned geomancy expert Master Lung, who analyzes the zodiac fortunes for the Year of the Snake, and a tarot specialist who unveils the outlook for all 12 zodiac signs. With their guidance, viewers can navigate the year ahead, attracting good luck and avoiding missteps.
