Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant 2024 Successfully Concluded

The Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant, organized annually by Fairchild Television, celebrated its 30th anniversary this year with a spectacular finale on November 28 at the River Rock Show Theatre. This year’s theme, “Shining Brilliance, Dreams Come True”, highlighted the transformative journey of women, likening their growth and breakthroughs to the formation of pearls. After three months of intensive training, the eight contestants took to the stage, radiating confidence and grace as they brought to life the values of perseverance and pursuing dreams. Their efforts, polished over time like pearls, culminated in a radiant and inspiring evening.

Over the past three decades, the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant has cultivated numerous talented women, many of whom have gone on to excel in various fields. To commemorate the pageant’s milestone anniversary, Dr. Thomas Fung, Chairman of Fairchild Group joined by the reigning Miss Chinese Vancouver 2023 Champion Isabella Zhai, Mr. Joe Chan, Vice Chair of Fairchild Media Group, and Mr. Todd Ye, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of Fairchild TV and Talentvision (Western Division), led a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony, wishing the pageant continue to be a platform for young women for achieving their dreams and bringing more excitement to the Chinese community for another 30 years.

The finale was hosted by the charismatic duo of Brian Chiu and Jerry Liu, whose humor and dynamic energy kept the audience engaged throughout the evening. A distinguished panel of judges, including soprano and philanthropist Ms. Jessica Yan Macintosh, Richmond Hospital Infectious Disease Consultant Physician and UBC Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Clement Kwok, Miss Chinese Vancouver 2015 and Miss Chinese International 2016 Champion Ms. Jennifer Coosemans, renowned Composer Dr. Steve Ho, and Pilates & fitness instructor Ms. Min-Hui You (Ann), were tasked with selecting the winners from this year’s talented contestants.The event opened with a captivating group performance where the eight contestants dazzled in stylish outfits, dancing with precision and flair. Following this lively introduction, each contestant had the chance to showcase her unique talent, enthralling the audience with her creativity and skill. No. 2, Claudia Lam, brought a burst of energy to the stage with her lively hula hoop routine, inspired by Barbie, embodying both grace and playfulness. No. 4, Marina Yu, stunned the audience with an innovative and artistic upside-down painting, leaving everyone in awe of her creativity and precision. No. 1, Shania Fu, mesmerized the crowd with her singing and dancing, exuding a charismatic stage presence that captivated all eyes. No. 7, Justine Ming, impressed with her ingenious quick-change act, featuring elaborate costumes that she had designed herself, showcasing her artistic sense and versatility. No. 8, Jasper Tiffany Chan, delivered a memorable performance in the Fujian dialect, blending singing and dancing in a heartwarming tribute to her cultural roots. No. 3, Jennifer Huang, fulfilled a lifelong dream with a seamless and passionate Latin dance routine alongside her partner, embodying elegance and fiery energy. No. 6, Hilary Chen, displayed a powerful and elegant sword dance, combining strength and poise in a breathtaking performance. Finally, No. 5, Olivia Zou, fused traditional Chinese dance with modern jazz elements, incorporating long silk fans to create a performance that highlighted her extensive training and artistic expression. Each contestant’s performance reflected her individuality and dedication, turning the talent segment into a stunning celebration of creativity, culture, and personal growth.The contestants lit up the stage in vibrant swimwear, exuding confidence and vitality. Their poised and graceful demeanor shone through as they tackled challenging questions from the hosts and special guests with composure, intelligence, and wit, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Later, the contestants embraced a timeless elegance as they appeared in exquisite evening gowns paired with luxurious jewelry, radiating sophistication and youthful charm. In a special tribute to the remarkable 30-year history of the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant, the eight contestants donned iconic stage costumes worn by past Champions, bringing to life the unforgettable highlights of previous pageants. Each outfit reflected its era, seamlessly blending classic elegance with contemporary flair. This homage to heritage and innovation created a poignant and meaningful moment on stage, celebrating the pageant's legacy.Special guest performer Phil Lam, a talented singer-songwriter, returned to Vancouver to an enthusiastic welcome. Having launched his career after winning the “New Talent Singing Awards Vancouver Audition” in 2007 and earning the 2nd Runner-up at the “International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship”, Phil opened his set with the upbeat track “How About We Dance”, instantly energizing the audience. Accompanied by Miss Chinese Vancouver 2022 Champion Yiyi Wang for a dance to “Once in a Lifetime”, Phil added depth to the evening’s performances. He also debuted a heartfelt song, “Just a Lullaby”, written for his newborn son, leaving the audience deeply moved. Concluding with his iconic track “Mountains and Valleys”, Phil interacted with the crowd, delivering an encouraging message to the contestants: cherish every moment, embrace the stage, and pursue dreams courageously while staying true to oneself.After meticulous deliberation, the panel of esteemed judges has selected the award winners for the competition.

Guqin artist Diana Tang performs these timeless works with delicate, slow playing, bringing the ancient melodies to life and allowing the audience to feel as if they are traversing through time, experiencing the emotions and deep thoughts of the ancients. The grand finale, held on November 28th at the River Rock Show Theatre, was a resounding success. This year’s theme, “Shining Brilliance, Dreams Come True”, was inspired by the transformation of pearls, symbolizing the journey of growth and self-discovery for women. Following three months of rigorous training, the eight finalists graced the stage with poise and elegance, exemplifying the spirit of perseverance and the pursuit of dreams. Their unwavering commitment and dedication, akin to the refining process of a pearl, culminated in a mesmerizing and unforgettable evening that left a lasting impression on all who attended.

MCVP Visit to SUCCESS Senior Residence & Day Care Centre

Following their debut at the press conference, the eight Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant contestants embarked on a heartwarming journey, visiting the SUCCESS Austin Harris Residence and Jackson Lam Adult Day Centre. They thoughtfully prepared a variety of performances and engaged warmly with the seniors, listening to their life stories and filling the event with joy and care. Through this experience, the contestants gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of companionship and kindness, spreading this warmth to the community and reflecting both inner and outer beauty.

The event was hosted by No. 5 Olivia Zou and No. 6 Hilary Chen, who greeted everyone and introduced each participant. No. 2 Claudia Lam and No. 8 Jasper Tiffany Chan performed an English song together, accompanied by No. 7 Justine Ming on the ukulele. The trio also performed the Chinese song “Red Sun”, which quickly lifted the atmosphere. No. 1 Shania Fu, No. 4 Marina Yu, and No. 5 Olivia Zou presented a cheerful dance, while No. 3 Jennifer Huang and No. 6 Hilary Chen led gentle stretching exercises for the seniors, ensuring everyone could participate comfortably. Finally, all eight contestants joined the seniors in singing “Sweetness”, with the seniors happily clapping along, creating a heartwarming and joyful scene. The contestants concluded by presenting handmade cards filled with well-wishes and their photos, wishing each senior good health, bright smiles, and beautiful days ahead.

Fairchild Indigenous Culture Campaign - Visiting Museum of Anthropology

In recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, Fairchild TV and Talentvision launched an Indigenous Culture Campaign to deepen employees' understanding of Canadian history and Indigenous culture. As part of the event, employees enjoyed complimentary visit to the renovated Museum of Anthropology (MOA), now enhanced to feature a greater focus on the history and culture of Canada’s Indigenous communities.

The MOA organized a special 30-minute guided tour led by Dr. Tzu-I Chung, who took the Fairchild TV and Talentvision teams through the museum’s precious collections and the cultural stories behind them. The exhibits and video presentations provided participants with an in-depth exploration of Indigenous history, art, and its ongoing influence in modern society. This event not only highlighted Indigenous cultural heritage but also emphasized the museum's collaborative efforts with Indigenous communities to preserve and promote these invaluable cultures.

Over the past three decades, Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant has become a prominent platform that fosters exceptional women, allowing them to showcase their beauty, intelligence, and talents, while bridging cultural exchange and community unity. This year’s theme, “Shining Brilliance, Dreams Come True,” highlights each contestant’s journey of growth and transformation, symbolizing the process through which pearls develop their unique shine. The contestants courageously pursue their dreams, maturing and radiating their distinct glow through time and experience.

The 1st Press Conference recently took place, hosted by the engaging Mandy Chan. The event was broadcast live on Fairchild Television and MCVP Facebook page, allowing a worldwide audience to witness the charm and inspiring energy of the contestants. Dressed elegantly in pink, the eight contestants made their media debut, showcasing grace, confidence, and charisma in their self-introductions. A group of UBC students studying Chinese Media visited Fairchild TV and Fairchild Radio recently to gain in-depth knowledge about the operations of television and radio stations, as well as effective strategies for delivering information to audiences. As an industry leader, Fairchild Media Group boasts extensive experience in multimedia integration, innovative broadcasting, and operations, making this visit a valuable learning opportunity. The students learned about the news production process in the newsroom, observed how programs are broadcast from the master room, and explored the studio where shows are recorded. Their active engagement allowed them to gain valuable insights that will benefit their future development.

Last year’s Champion Isabella Zhai, 1st Runner-up Tracy Chung, and 2nd Runner-up Annie Zhang, shared valuable insights from their own pageant journeys with this year's contestants. They encouraged the contestants to embrace challenges fearlessly and confidently showcase their unique qualities. With the guidance and support of these former winners, the contestants have gained a boost in confidence and are feeling highly motivated.

Following this, the contestants experienced an image transformation, including makeup, hairstyling, and dental care. Their new looks and bright smiles have elevated their confidence, bringing out even more of their charm. In Loving Memory of Maggie Ip: A Pioneer in Community Service and Founder of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

We deeply mourn the passing of Maggie Ip, the founding president of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Over the years, Maggie was actively involved in S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and many other organizations, making significant contributions to charity and social services. Born in Shanghai, she later moved to Canada and earned a Master's degree in Education from the University of Ottawa. In the late 1960s, she relocated to Vancouver with her family and her husband, Kelly Ip. During her time as a board member of YWCA, Maggie served the Strathcona and Chinatown communities, where she recognized the lack of resources for new immigrants from Hong Kong. This led her to establish S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 1973, an organization that has been serving newcomers ever since. Her husband, Kelly Ip, also made considerable contributions to the community, having served as the Chairman of the Fairchild TV Advisory Committee for many years. Their efforts left a lasting impact on the Vancouver community.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the local Chinese community feel a deep sense of loss at Maggie's passing. Her kindness and spirit will be remembered fondly. Fairchild Television and Talentvision extend their condolences to Kelly and his family during this difficult time.

Drug Problem, Lack of Family Doctors and Inflation the Major Debate Topics Between 3 Parties at “2024 BC Election Forum”

Just two weeks before the October 19 BC Election, organized by Fairchild Media Group (Fairchild Television, Talentvision, Fairchild Radio AM1470 and Fairchild Radio FM961), the “2024 BC Election Forum” took place at Aberdeen Centre on October 5. The representatives of the three major political parties brought fireworks to the on-stage debate. Although the Forum was conducted in Cantonese and the majority of the audience were Chinese Canadians residing in Richmond, the issues under scrutiny can be related by everyone living in BC.

The forum was moderated by Clement Tang, news anchor of Fairchild Television, and Mandy Wen, news anchor of Fairchild Radio. After a brief round of the candidates elaborating on their own platform, a panel of news commentators raised concerns on employment, inflation, drug problem and education, and asked each candidate to give their own take on the issues. Before taking questions from the audience, the candidates had the opportunity to crossfire each other and that was when the real debate began.Representing the Conservative Party of BC was the popular but controversial Teresa Wat (candidate for Richmond-Bridgeport) who jumped ship from BC United in July. Representing BC Green Party was Tamás Revóczi (another candidate for Richmond-Bridgeport) who is a cancer survivor and mental health advocate. And last but not least, representing BC NDP was Henry Yao (Richmond-Centre). Henry Yao is an incumbent MLA like Teresa Wat and came from a background of youth work.Tereas Wat of BC Conservatives took no time to criticize the NDP for worsening the drug problem in BC with their safer injecting facilities, and many problems such as a spike in crime rate and homelessness are chain reaction of the drug problem.On the other hand, Henry Yao of BC NDP warned the audience if BC Conservatives wins, there will be a cut in various public welfare including health care.When the floor was opened to audience to ask questions, the line was long and the audience took no mercy in challenging the candidates. Several audience members questioned who is to blame for the lack of family doctors and insufficient day care facilities, others were concerned about traffic congestion in Richmond and the now-suspended supportive housing project at Cambie and Sexsmith.The “2024 BC Election Forum” has concluded in success. The News Department of Fairchild Television and Talentvision will provide comprehensive coverage of the election, including ongoing updates and interviews with party leaders. On the Election Day (October 19), we will feature live video commentary from political analysts, offering insights into how the results will affect the province's future. Chi Heng Vancouver Charity Dinner 2024

The annual Chi Heng Vancouver Charity Dinner 2024 was recently held with great success, continuing to receive full support from Fairchild Media Group over the years. Mr. Todd Ye, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of Fairchild TV and Talentvision (Western Division), led a group of department heads, news anchors, Miss Chinese Vancouver 2022 Champion YiYi Wang, and 2020 2nd Runner-up Vicky Wu, to attend this prestigious event. The dinner has raised over $300,000 to aid orphans and impoverished students in mainland China affected by HIV/AIDS. Fairchild Television host Ricky Cheung emceed the evening, bringing vibrant energy to the event. Larry Lo, known as the "King of Classic Hits" and a popular host at Fairchild Radio, captivated the audience with a medley of timeless Chinese songs. Special guest William Ho, another esteemed host from Fairchild Television, performed a selection of Chinese songs and opera pieces. Their duet marked the pinnacle of the evening, delivering a memorable finale that left guests thoroughly entertained and satisfied.

The contestants gathered today to hear from the project team, who presented the upcoming training schedule and provided guidance on how to effectively use online platforms to help the audience better understand their talents, daily lives, and dreams.

Following our tradition, past winners was invited each year to share their experiences. This year, we welcomed the 2023 Miss Chinese Vancouver Champion, Isabella Zhai, and 2nd Runner-up, Annie Zhang, to share their insights and encourage the contestants to accept new challenges! 1st Runner-up Tracy Chung has prepared a video message and cheered for them as she could not attend in person due to her preparations for the Miss Hong Kong Finals.

The highly anticipated event, Fairchild Mid-Autumn Celebration Dinner 2024, kicked off tonight, bringing the festivities of the Mid-Autumn Festival in three major Canadian cities. The first dinner show took place in Vancouver, where renowned artist Wan Kwong (also known as “Kwong B”) thrilled fans with a special performance, filling the venue with excitement and joy.The two hilarious emcees, Mandy Chan and Brian Chiu, began with a vibrant dance and song medley featuring the classic hits “Dancing Girl” and “Butter Egg Tart”. The nostalgic tunes instantly won over the audience, setting the tone for a lively evening. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere complete with abundant Mid-Autumn-themed gifts and traditional activities such as a “Lantern Riddles” game. Lucky winners were selected throughout the night to receive surprise prizes, adding to the fun-filled mood.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Wan Kwong’s special set list, crafted just for his Canadian fans. Having recently celebrated his 80th birthday, Wan Kwong performed a part of his new song “80 and Counting” to the roaring applause of the audience. The production team welcomed the contestants in the first briefing session and provided a detailed overview of the pageant, training schedule, and shooting arrangements. This would ensure that each contestant can present well on camera as well as on the social media platforms. Didi, the Stage Director, and Shirley, the Styling Supervisor, also shared their expectations and standard, both looking forward to the contestants' performances in the upcoming events.

The annual SUCCESS Walk with the Dragon was successfully held yesterday at Stanley Park. To continue the legacy, Fairchild Media Group delegated the Champion of the “Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant 2023” Isabella Zhai to partner with program host William Ho as the event emcee. Filled with music and exciting performances, the park was packed with thousands of participants. This year, a total of $320,000 was raised and all proceeds will be used to support underfunded S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs for seniors and development of new service hotline.

2024 Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival

The Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival, North America's premier dragon boat event, will be bigger and better than ever in 2024. Celebrating its 36th year, the festival will take place on June 22-23, marking the first weekend of summer. This year, the festival will feature the largest dragon boat race on the continent with over 6,000 racers and 250 entries from Canada, the United States, and all over the world. Races will commence at 8:00 am on June 22. Admission to the festival and its myriad activities is free, making it one of Vancouver's most popular summer events.

Fairchild TV and Talentvision are pleased to present the global premiere of the puppet show "Otosan," co-created by Shizuka Kai and her father, who is a wildlife photographer. The story tells about a young girl, Shizu, who secretly hides in her father's suitcase and embarks on an adventure to a hazardous destination, the North with him. After facing dangers and threats from snowy owls, white wolves, and grizzly bears, they ultimately learn how to express their love to each other. This show utilizes puppetry, projection technology, and original music to take the audience on an immersive journey. Suitable for individuals with hearing difficulties to enjoy.

TVB Fairchild Fans Party 2024

Every spring, TVB Fairchild Fans Party, hosted by Fairchild Television, brings TVB stars from Hong Kong to meet with fans in Canada. This year, as the event celebrates its 20th anniversary, TVB’s most promising new talents Owen Cheung, Katy Kung, Moon Lau, and Mark Ma made their debut appearance in Canada, ready to ignite a dazzling evening with fans in Vancouver. The party commenced with a special video showcasing memorable moments from the past 20 years, setting the stage for a nostalgic trip down the memory lane. Having welcomed over sixty celebrities to Canada, the Party was emceed by Mary Lo and Mandy Chan, who have respectively helmed the program for 13 and 16 years, markingtheir growthall along. Following the opening remarks, the four idols made an entrance one by one to greet the audience as the evening was unfoldedlive on Facebook by Fairchild Television, allowing fans worldwide to join in the excitement.

This year, classic games were re-enacted from past editions, with guests enthusiastically participating. The first game tested participants' observational skills as the artistes teamed up with a member of the audience to identify clues from TVB drama clips. The teams with the most correct answers emerged victorious, they all tied, requiring a tiebreaker challenge. In the final challenge, teams had to creatively come up with a title for a funny drama poster, with the audience acting as judges, resulting in a tie and joyous celebration for all. The second game, “Fans Party Ping Pong Pass” emphasized teamwork and quick reflexes as participants passed table tennis balls from start to finish using tubes tied around their bodies. Owen has won the game using his spectacular skills with his attentive audience partner. The last classic game, “Toilet Paper Roll”, required both luck and strength. Despite two setbacks, Moon managed to clinch the championship in the end!In addition to the excitement of the games, the entire event was enlightened by performances from the four stars, showcasing their singing talents. Mark, with over 17 years in acting, manifested exceptional singing skills with renditions of “Remembrance” and “Together”. Moon, whose extraordinary singing talent is considered to be overshadowed by her outstanding acting skills, captivated the audience with her sweet voice when she performed “Fly with me” and “Weather”. Katy, famous for her versatility, delighted fans with her “the girl next door” image, performing “Next Queen” and “At Least I’ve Got You” and interacted with them on stage for a sing-along. Closing the event, Katy's on-screen partner Owen, known for his excellence in acting and singing, delivered lively performances of “When Time Comes” and “Love is You”, infusing the audience with infectious energy.At the finale, the four idols invited lucky audiences to join them on stage for selfies, expressing gratitude for their support and admiration. Vancouver Magazine unveiled its 23rd annual Power 50 list in the February 2024 issue, highlighting the most influential figures in the Greater Vancouver area. This marked the first release of the list under the new editor-in-chief, Stacey McLachlan, who reflected on her 24-year journey since joining the magazine as an intern and witnessing Vancouver's evolution. While the earlier iterations of the Power 50 were dominated by white males, the list has now diversified over the past two decades. The editorial team continually redefined the concept of "Power," and this year's list includes elites from various fields such as culture, politics, and business, alongside outstanding philanthropists and community leaders. Today, "Power" is not solely defined by wealth or status but also by ideology and contribution.

In a special addition to this year's Power 50, the magazine introduced the Hall of Fame, paying tribute to fifteen individuals who have consistently made the list since its inception. Among them, three prominent icons from the Chinese community with Hong Kong backgrounds shine in the Hall of Fame. The first is Thomas Fung, Founder and Chairman of the Fairchild

Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth 2024

The 26th edition of the Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth returns once again, taking place from April 7th to 16th at the Roundhouse Community Centre and VIFF Centre Theatre. Dedicated to promoting youth cinema, the festival showcases films from around the world, providing young audiences with the opportunity to understand professional filmmaking and fostering cultural exchange. This year, over a hundred feature films and shorts will be screened, including three outstanding international films making their first ever Canadian premieres.

Fairchild TV and Talentvision recommend a program of Asian Animated Shorts: Asia Animated Around the World 2024 on April 14th. The event will feature four exceptional short films from China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, telling stories about family, culture, identity, and the meaning of life. After a four-year hiatus, Fairchild Group once again hosted the Annual Celebration Dinner, bringing together hundreds of employees for a joyous celebration of the Year of the Dragon. The evening kicked off with a vibrant dragon dance performance by the Fairchild Television News Department, followed by greetings from Miss Chinese Vancouver2022 YiYi Wang, news anchor Clement Tang and representatives from various Fairchild divisions. Ledby Mr. Thomas Fung, Chairman of Fairchild Group,and the elite management team, toasts were raised to the collective success and prosperous future of the group.

For the past thirty years, Fairchild Television and Talentvision have been enriching the Chinese Canadian community with diverse and exciting entertainment, news, dramas and variety shows, all of which have evolved with the times and garnered widespread acclaims. Local productions have played a pivotal role in helping immigrants integrate into the community and have achieved remarkable success and recognition.

During the banquet, different departments of FTV once again showcased their spirit of collaboration, conjuring up creative Lunar New Year presentations. Notably, the Accounting Department and eSseelynxjoined hands for anenergetic number featuring six charismatic dancers.

Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant was confronted by unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic in the past four years. Now in its 30th anniversary, previous winners, including Kitty Yao (2020), YiYi Wang (2022 Champion), Isabella Zhai(2023 Champion), Tracy Chung (2023 1st runner-up), and Annie Zhang (2023 2nd runner-up) graced the stage in colorful and youthful costumes, reenacting the group dance performances from 2020 to 2023 in front of a  thunderous crowd.

The News Department, which has remained committed to producing high-quality news and current affairs programs since the station’s inception, delighted the audience with surprise appearances by the first-generation news anchor Diana Lam andan rendition of "Heirs of the Dragon," by Todd Ye, News and Current Affairs Director with news anchors Hon Sang Chan and Ada Luk, wishing everyone prosperity and good fortune in the Year of the Dragon.

In addition to the spectacular performances, the sumptuous feast, engaging games and exciting prizes were also highlights of the Dinner. Colleagues participated enthusiastically, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the event. Many wonvaluable prizes in the highly anticipated grand lucky draw. In welcoming the year of the Dargan, the lion dance held on the first day of the New Year brought much excitement to Aberdeen Centre. A lively lion greeted Fairchild TV department heads at the front door and performed the "picking the green" ceremony, bringing fortune to all employees and prosperity to Fairchild TV.

On the third day of the Lunar New Year, Mr. Thomas Fung, Chairman of Fairchild Group, and the management team led the entire staffs in a ceremony to kick start the new working year and wished for every success for the upcoming year.

As a long-standing tradition for over 2 decades, Fairchild Television proudly presented the Lunar New Year Countdown Show " Good Harvest on Year of Dragon" live on FTV1, bringing the festive spirit to viewers nationwide. Thousands of locals and visitors gathered at Aberdeen Centre, strolling through the flower market and participating in the city's largest New Year's Eve countdown event, brimming with excitement to welcome the Year of the Dragon. The show was kicked off with a majestic lion dance performance, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. Hosts Mary Lo and Mandy Chan revealed a lineup of spectacular performances, sparking anticipation among the audience.

The festivities began with vibrant performances by energetic kids and talented young dancers from Cindy Yang Dance Academy of Canada and Royvl Imaging Academy, showcasing traditional Chinese dance intertwining with dynamic K-Pop routines that ignited the stage with explosion and enthusiasm. During the “TruNatural Chinese New Year Cooking Segment”, an innovative Lunar New Year dish "Crispy Akakuro Buta Sous-Vide Pork Belly" was instantly created by Chef Philip with Miss Chinese Vancouver Champion Isabella Zhai acting as his sous chef, providing an additional mouth-watering experience to the crowd. Feng Shui master Anna Mak offered valuable insights into the fortunes of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs, guiding people through the tips to attracting good luck and warding off negativity in the New Year. The festive atmosphere was further advanced when lucky attendees were blessed with auspicious Feng Shui objects as gifts.

The games and prizes were certainly a huge hit, with doubled jackpots and entertaining challenges keeping the audience engaged and thrilled throughout the evening. The first game by TELUS tested participants' observation as they competed to find a marked dragon cup among a flurry of rapid swapping. The second game by Scotiabank featured Isabella, Tracy and Annie, the three winners of the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant 2023, competing against the audience team to test their focus and speed in a race to collect the most red pockets using a spatula within a time limit. The three talented ladies effortlessly demonstrated their “cookery” skills, earning cheers from the crowd!

The evening concluded with an exhilarating grand prize draw, leaving everyone feeling jubilant and fulfilled. Hosts Ah Bao, Tracy, and Annie weaved through the crowd at the flower market, distributing lucky red envelopes and fortune bags, spreading prosperity and joy to all. At the most anticipated moment, the God of Wealth joined in,counting down to midnight and ushering in the New Year with joyful cheers and blessings with performers, leaders and members of three levels of government onstage.
